BackgroundGenealogy is a major hobby of Kathy's. She started collecting information from family members, gathering family names, dates, locations and pictures from anyone we could find. She's been collecting and researching since the early 1990's. We started with initial information that was collected by both of Kathy's grandfathers, some of Bob's aunts and cousins, and some Rainford relatives. Since then, Kathy has added quite a bit of information from census research gathered at the National Archives in Seattle, death certificates, Family Search at the Mormon Church, letter writing & talking to many, many relatives. Gathering family photos is the most fun - we are still looking for a family member that resembles Kathy in appearance. Return to the top of this page

Items we have createdFamily History BooksKathy has created Family History books for her Grandpa Mashino's branches (Mashino / Rainford) and Bob's mother's branches (Hawley / Carver). The Hawley/Carver books were sold at the family reunion in 1996. Atha Stellmon's PoemsIn 1995, a book of poems was published. These poems were originally written by Kathy's Grandma Atha Stellmon during her lifetime. She always wanted to have them published so Kathy and her mom, Shirley Hanke, made sure that happened. The poems were typed up and decorated with different fonts and pictures by Kathy. Her mom and step dad got many copies hard bound and delivered them to Grandma's family. Family Memory bookIn 1997, Kathy published a book of memories from life with all of her grandparents. It has pictures of each grandparent and great grandparent. It is 93 pages of memories, stories with pictures, and a lot of learning about why Kathy is the way she is. Many family members and cousins received this as a surprise gift.Archive and Census InformationWe have tried to organize all the important documents we have located in notebooks by family name. There are lots of Census pages that help us track the migration of the family. We also have birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, family letters and other memories. Within our Family Tree Maker files, we have nearly 20,000 entries linking all of our family lines together. Since creating this website, we have heard from many other researchers who are working directly in our family lines or in parallel lines. This has helped a lot because we can share information with each other. Return to the top of this page
