Newspaper: 66th Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. M.S. Stellmon, Greenacres, recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Present were three of their six children and four of their eight grandchildren and other family members and friends. The Stellmon's were married in Gentry, Arkansas, Dec. 22, 1898. The following year they came to Nez Perce, Idaho, where they engaged in farming. They have lived in Greenacres since 1923.

Newspaper: Former Pleasant Valley Resident Dies Tuesday

Mrs. Melvin S. (Effie) Stellmon, 91, a former resident of Pleasant Valley, died early Tuesday morning, February 22, 1972, at the Good Samaritan Home in Green Acres, Washington. She had been a resident of that Spokane area community for some 35 years. Funeral services were held this Thursday morning at 11 in Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Effie Horne was born March 15, 1880 and married Melvin Stellmon at Gentry, Arkansas December 18, 1898. The next year they moved to Nez Perce, Idaho, to farm. They homesteaded in Pleasant Valley near the site of the school in 1910. Later he was in the real estate business with the late D. C. Morris. The Stellmons moved to Washington in 1923, and later to Green Acres, where they observed their 69th wedding anniversary. Mr Stellmon died October 5, 1967. Survivors at that time were two sons and four daughters, one being Mrs. R. D. (Clarice) Warner, who was a Fort Benton school teacher for a number of years some years after her parents moved from here.

 

Effie was part Cherokee Indian and part Pennsylvania Dutch
