In an early days, right after the Civil War there was quite a
store building erected a hundred feet or so north of where Dave
Whiteside's home had been (the one which burned down, next to where
Leonard Wilmoth now lives). This store was operated by Mack
Wilmoth (brother to George and Dallas, son of William Wilmoth)
and Bill Gregory (who lived where Thomas Wilmoth now lives, next
to church house.) During the operation of the store, there was
an established post office inside named Iona. Later the store
closed business because Mack Wilmoth and Bill Gregory put one in
at Healing Springs. The post office, Iona was moved to the house
where Thomas Wilmoth now lives and I think that the postmistress
was Mrs. Alice Gregory, wife of Bill Gregory and daughter of
William Wilmoth.
Of note, I found a marriage of a Fanny C. Grigory to W.D.
Wilmoth on 2 Oct 1884
He was known as "Young Bill".

OF WILLIAM M. & CATHERINE GREGORY-MARRIED ALICE WILMOTH-"WEST OF
THE TRACKS" BY MARGE HADLEY
When his father died in August 1894, Bill Gregory moved to
the family farm to care for his mother. He bought the farm - 160
acres from his
brothers and sisters who were also heirs. The land is located
where the Falling Springs Cemetery and Church are now located.
They moved from Healing Springs, AR to Beaver County, OK in
the summer of 1911, along with Mack Wilmoth. They traveled in 3
covered wagons and a hack. When they arrived in Beaver County,
OK, they lived in a 2 room dugout. Later they added a cellar and
boarded the school teacher. In 1912, Amma taught school in the
sand hills north of Beaver Creek.
