Robert's birth certificate has the following information. Born July
7, 1851 in sub-district Earsdon, County of Northumberland, when his
parents were living at 54 Foreman's Row, Seaton Delval. His father was
Matthew Bolam, a Collier by profession. His mother was Ann Bolam
formerly Kinnard. His birth was registered on July 26, 1851
Press cuttings regarding Robert Bolam at the time of his death:
1) In loving memory of our dear father, Robert Bolam, of Usworth
Colliery, who died July 10th, 1909, aged 58 years. Day by day we saw him
fade and gently pass away. Yet in our hearts we prayed that he might
longer stay: Good was his heart and in friendship sound, patient in
pain, and loved by all around. His pains are o'er, his grief's forever
done, a life of everlasting joy has now begun. Deeply mourned and sadly
missed by his loving daughters, Maggie, Mary, Alice, Nellie, and son
Henry.
2) Death of Mr. R. Bolam, Usworth Colliery. The death has taken place
of Mr. Robert Bolam, of Usworth Colliery. The deceased, who was 58 years
of age, acted for many years as local secretary to the Usworth Lodge of
the Durham Miners' Association, and was a representative for the Usworth
Parish on the Chester-le Street Rural District Council, as well as a
member of the Usworth Parish Council. He played a prominent part in the
administration of the Usworth and District Workmen's Social Club, having
been its secretary up to quite recently. He leaves a widow and family.
The interment takes place on Wednesday afternoon at Usworth.

and Mrs. Robert W Bolam, formerly of County Durham, England, held a
party at the IOOF hall on Sunday evening to celebrate their silver
wedding anniversary.
The evening was spent in dancing, music being furnished by Harry
Bewick and Mr. Wurman.
A mock wedding ceremony was performed. Harold Gibson acted as
minister. Harry Bewick was best man and Joe Wright gave the bride away,
taking the same parts as at the wedding in England. There were about 70
present. Mr. and Mrs. Bolam were presented with many lovely gifts.

Bolam Sr. today celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary and will enjoy
a dinner this evening with members of their family and a few close
friends. They have resided in Kellogg for the past 15 years. Mr. and
Mrs. Bolam were married in Durham county, England, on August 3, 1905.
Newspaper Clipping: COUPLE OBSERVE 42ND ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. R.W.
Bolam Sr., pioneer residents of the district, celebrated their 42nd
wedding anniversary last Sunday with a reunion and gathering, attended
by 30 guests. The pioneer couple married in Durham county, England, on
August 31, 1905. A unique feature of the gathering was the presence of
the best man and bride's maid who attended the wedding in England. Harry
Bewick of Kellogg was the best man and Mrs. Robert Bewick of Coulee
City, Washington was the bride's maid. R.W. (Pops) Bolam is well known
in local bowling circles, having bowled here for many years. He started
the 1947 season last night.

R.D. at the time of death.
