December 27, 2008 4:30 PM  Lettering

Today I pretty much finished the lettering (only piece left to do is the boat # on the deck and that can't be done until the deck is clear coated).

I also added the chrome V6 emblem (just in case you can't count the # of exhaust pipes). I found them on E-bay months ago.

Also shown is the APBA member logo that are on the yet to be installed air scopes. The scopes go over the smaller round hole, under the Rose emblem. I found these emblem on E-bay also.

The front cowling still needs to have the windshield installed, but I have to glue the rubber molding to it yet and the glue I was going to use, froze in the shop, so it is worthless now. Oh well.

December 26, 2008 4:02 PM  I Couldn't Wait ...

I went down to admire Jason's work and couldn't wait. I started putting the lettering down. I'm about 1/2 finished. Still have to install "Don Kelson Hydros", "Bolam's Express" and the drivers names. But you will get the idea.

I had the graphics made up 2 yrs ago and the blue lettering matches exactly, the blue paint that Jason put down.

The Rose was on our other boat also (our first boat was named "My Rose" in honor of my mother. We carried that over to the new boat with a simple Rose. The guys at the graphics place did a fantastic re-creation.

The 1 mile completion record letter is new, we never had the boat lettered for that, but what the neck, might was well show her pedigree.

December 26, 2008 1:30 PM  Christmas Surprise

Well gang, we are one big step closer. I went down to the paint shop today to check up on things - guess WHAT we received a (day after Christmas present). The cowlings were finished and waiting for me.

The pictures are from down at the paint shop this morning and after they were taken down in the basement.

It took two trips home so that I wouldn't scratch the new paint (driving back and forth with LOTS of snow and ice on the road - but there are priorities...).

We will wait a week or two before we start applying the decals (to make sure the paint has cured enough. I still have to install  the windshield, the dashboard, the rubber molding around the edges.

Hopefully the snow will melt enough so that we can get the boat out of our shop and get it down to the paint shop.... BOY OH BOY will it look pretty.....
