12-13-2007  2:59 PM  Been Awhile

I received a note today saying, "hey we haven't heard from you in a while". Well to be honest, some work is going on, but at a MUCH slower pace because it is 28 degrees outside and inside the shop. Just no wind chill factor inside the shop.

I have been sanding on Scottie's helmet - but it's to cold to try and paint it right now.

I was sanding the sponson battens, but it was just to cool to stay in the shop for a very long. If it gets above 35+, I can tolerate it a little longer.

We have found a trailer for the boat. It will be delivered next spring. It be painted blue like the original one. Craig and I don't want to haul it on the highways just now because of the winter salt and de-icier. The new tires and wheels might not look as good as they do right now with the salt (I know that for sure, because the wheels on our Isuzu Rodeo look terrible each winter from the de-icier and salt).

I did make a paper pattern from the original boat drawings of the frame #5 (widest part of the boat). From the paper patter I made a wood template of that frame. After the trailer gets here, I will use this template to make sure the boat will fit correctly on the trailer before ever trying to actually lower the boat on the trailer. It can do more damage then desired lowering the boat down and hitting areas that may or may not need to be modified to correctly support the boat on a tilt and down flat.

I had a major distraction last week. Someone decided to destroy our mailbox during the night. A few years ago I build it to hold four neighbors mailboxes. Our thinking is, a drunk is driving around with a lot of front end damage (it was concreted into the ground with 4 bags of cement). It was a balmy 32 that day and it took 3.5 hours to re-build the support system (this time it is even stronger, so if someone decides hits it again, they just might have to stop for repairs...).
