8-10-2007  4:40PM  Polished Prop

I'm hoping you can tell the difference. The photo called prop is yesterday just after the prop arrived. The other photo's called polished prop are what it looks like after I polished it today.

8-9-2007  7:11 PM  Roll Over Party

We are having a roll over party - now in boat racing a roll over party is miss nomer - it really means it will be WORK to roll a boat over. Any way we will have beer, wine and small finger food for AFTER the boat is rolled over.

The roll over is scheduled for 6 PM on Tuesday, September 21 for those who can make it and thank you.

It shouldn't take more then 1/2 to an hour and then conversation and telling lies. We will be using an electric winch and a nylon strap. Mostly the people will be used for spotters on each end of the hull.

8-9-2007  6:42 PM  This is Getting Exciting

The BRAND SPANKING NEW prop arrived today (thank you Bret!!!!!!!!!!!). It fits the shaft absolutely perfect. I will polish it and make it look just like chrome.

Enclosed is a picture of the freshly painted ZOOMIES (thank you Ted!!!!!!!!). They look great and will be adjusted if needed at a later date, it is not important right now. Make it look like a BIG BLOCK... LOL

Also enclosed is a sticker I found, it was originally printed when hydroplane was fluently spoken in Coeur d' Alene.

8-3-2007  10:47AM  Engine in Boat

I couldn't wait to see how the engine looked in the boat, so last night @ 9pm, I went out and put the engine in the hydro. Course I didn't take pictures until today, but at least I could sleep last night not wondering how it looked.... LOL

Now with all that said, the Zoomies may or may not be to long, but it is easier to cut off then try and grow more length. I haven't decided on the length yet. I will wait for suggestions from my fellow racer friends. For now they will stay the length they are.

Thank you Ted Kimble for making the headers. You did an excellent job.

Also in the pictures is the external oil filter and the new aluminum engine mounts. I'm not happy with the oil lines, so I will be making some new ones that are stainless steel braided hose with 45 degree fittings. I'm concerned about the oil flow being restricted with the rubber hoses.

Also for those of you who haven't seen it. The Boeing Hydro. It is painted in the 787 colors.

8-2-2007  5:22PM  New Zoomies

Look what arrived today?? THE ENGINE ZOOMIES!!!!!

Tomorrow I will re-install the engine back into the boat and check alignments. Then take the engine back out, take the headers off and get ready to paint them hi-temp stainless steel silver.

They currently are a little long because I wasn't sure how long I really wanted them. They will either stay where they are or maybe a little shorter - depends on the heat pattern I detect after the first running of the engine - some day down the road.

I think it's beginning to look like a race engine.

If you look closely, you will see the wood motor mount templates have been replaced with the REAL aluminum engine mounts. Also the external oil filter is temporarily mounted. It allows for a larger oil filter and slightly more volume.
